I think this was all part of a narrative that was planned 2+ years ago anticipating a Hillary Clinton Presidency where she would have been out front trying to tear up the constitution in a big historic horse and pony show modeled after the civil rights movement. They never thought she would lose, but when she did, they decided to get some mileage out of the work they had put in to scripting a national narrative. It turned out to be a dud.
