Not a big deal, just wondered if anyone else noticed, too.
Grew up watching the McNeil Lehrer News Hour. When I was under 10, since I couldn't really understand what they were saying, and parent told me it's "government-ese" I resolved to expand my vocabulary so that by age 12 I could. And I did, and I enjoyed their show very much, I learned a lot about things from them as a young person. I paid attention to how they formulated their questions and responses - built their arguments and were coherent and succinct.
Fast-forward and cable news came along. It wasn't awful at first, but the dichotomy between the McNeil Lehrer News Hour where they were polite and had discussions with guests and what it has devolved into (shouting cross-talk and idiotic panels of chattering ninnies) is so stark, and frankly a bit depressing.
