You could make a movie, book, animation using those classic European children's stories, or shakespeare or H.G. Wells or any number of other works without paying any royalty fees or copy right infringements because ITS IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN.
You can begrudge Disney on many fronts but not for 1 being inspired by other things or 2 using public domain beloved stories for his animation. or 3 that the company shouldn't use law to extend their copy right or 4 that Disney was a no talent. Animation is an art….capturing movement in successive pictures and sparking life into flashes of light is not so simple especially back then.
Arguing that these are the things that make him despicable is weak and not convincing.
