Trump Envoy Asks Kosovo To Drop Tariffs, Serbia To Stop Derecognition Campaign

US Ambassador to Berlin, Richard Grenell, also President Donald Trump’s special envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue met with President Hashim Thaçi and Prime Minister-designate Albin Kurti today in Prishtina.

In their meeting with Thaçi, Grenell stated he would not interfere in Kosovo’s domestic politics regarding the creation of a new government. He added that his objective during this visit to Kosovo and then to Serbia, aimed at urging both governments to improve the economy and create new jobs.

Grenell and Thaçi also discussed the agreement signed this week in Berlin to establish a Prishtina-Belgrade flight a 21-year hiatus.

The US diplomat asked Kurti to consider dropping the 100 percent tariffs on Serbian goods, stating that Serbia should also drop its derecognition campaign against Kosovo. Grenell said he would confer the same message to the Serbian government during his visit.

Boeing Quits — and Kills — DARPA Experimental Spaceplane Program

In 2013, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) launched the Experimental Spaceplane (XSP) project. Its goal? Create a reusable hypersonic vehicle that could deliver small satellites into orbit for the United States military.

In 2017, DARPA selected Boeing to build and test the spaceplane. But this week, the company announced it was quitting the program — prompting DARPA to kill the project altogether.

In a statement delivered to Space News on Wednesday, Boeing spokesperson Jerry Drelling said the company would stop building the spaceplane, which it dubbed the Phantom Express, to focus on other projects.

“Following a detailed review, Boeing is ending our role in the Experimental Spaceplane (XSP) program immediately,” Drelling said. “We will now redirect our investment from XSP to other Boeing programs that span the sea, air, and space domains.”

Made it back from the US where they had just begun the impeachment business. And in the hotel we were staying at – perhaps explicable because we were in California – it was MSNBC running in the restaurant night and day. My conclusion: in comparison CNN is balanced and fair. Non-stop with the occasional moment of foreign news devoted to bushfires in Australia.

The enforced media-driven ignorance of the American population is startling. The hatred towards PDT you come across everywhere is incredible. The ayatollahs of the American networks could not be more one-sided.

As for the impeachment here are the Senate draft rules.

Essentially, the impeachment trial will be gone in about a week and then it’s on to the State of the Union. The Democrats assume that not only is a week a long time in politics, four years and ten months is an eternity. Nothing going on today will matter then. They are giving away 2020 and waiting for 2024 where the present crew and the present political set of “leaders” and their arguments will have discredited themselves. Not that I think that the Dem nominee cannot win, but I do think there are enough Democrats who hope whomever it is does not win.

French counterterrorism officer charged with selling forged documents online

An officer in France’s elite counterterrorism agency is to be tried along with four accomplices for selling forged identity documents and private data on the darknet. The case first emerged in 2018, after officers with France’s Central Office for the Prevention of Illegal Immigration (OCRIEST) detected a seller of high quality forged copies of official documents on the darknet.

The seller, who went by the nickname Haurus, offered French identification cards, drivers’ licenses, birth certificates and even bank documents, in exchange for between €100 and €300 ($110 and $330). The quality of the documents on sale was substantially higher than most forgeries sold on the darknet. According to French government investigators, the fake docments qualified as what anti-forgery experts call “the gold standard”. Haurus also sold private phone records and other information to track the whereabouts of individuals.

Government investigators eventually received an anonymous tip that helped identify Haurus. According to prosecutors, Haurus was an officer in the General Directorate for Internal Security (DGSI), which serves as France’s main counterterrorism agency. In accordance with France’s strict privacy laws, he has been identified only as “Cédric D.”, 33. According to Le Parisien newspaper, Cédric D. worked as a counterterrorism investigator specializing on jihadist terrorist networks.
