Reminds me of the scripture where Jesus' disciples asked Him "What shall be the sign of Thy coming and of the end of the world?"
Among the several signs He listed, there was this:
Many will give up their faith at that time; they will betray one another and hate one another.
Such will be the spread of evil that many people's love will grow cold.
Mation will rise against nation, and there will be earthquakes, famines, and pestilences.
But he who endures to the end shall be saved.
