Anecdote about the Chinese mindset.

My stupid parents are friendly with this Chinese guy. He's been living in the West for years but still acts like he's fresh off the boat. For whatever reason, my folks try to help him become more Western. They helped him join their local club, let him cook them dinner, all sorts of dumb shit. I've told them many times I think he's a spy.

Yesterday they told me that he recently started boasting about how he went to see a doctor friend (also Chinese) and the doc had given him a disabled parking sticker (even though he's not disabled). The guy was all pleased with himself for gaming the system like that - presumably the doctor is corrupt and incompetent too. My parents explained to him that those parking permits are for people who need to be near the store because they have actual disabilities. This simply did not compute with the guy. He couldn't understand why his having one was not great… it was great for him after all, everyone else can eat shit and die as far as he was concerned. They persisted and told him, in our country, we consider this bad form and nothing to boast about.

So I asked them - do you think he will take the sticker off his car and stop parking in disabled spaces? No, they said, but he will probably stop bragging about it.

This kind of shit is just one of the many reasons that immigration is horseshit and Chinese people are culturally bereft, scamming assholes.
