The conviction of HUBERT DUPIGNY is the culmination of the prosecution of 19 defendants, set forth in eight indictments, for the sex trafficking of at least 20 minor girls and young adults in New York State’s social services system. With DUPIGNY’s conviction, all 19 of the defendants have now been convicted, either via guilty plea or following trial.

The Jewish Board announced it would close Hawthorne earlier this year, following pressure from state legislators, severe sanctions from the state child welfare office and growing complaints from residents of Mount Pleasant about teenagers wandering the town, particularly as they headed to trains back to New York City.

Among the 11 newly-charged defendants were Carlton Vanier, Ruben Morciglio, Saeed Norris, Lloyd Kidd, Luidi Benjamin, Lawrence Walsh, Cimmie Wright, Adrienne Roberts, Christopher Bullock, Dariel Braham and Steven Lesane.
The other defendants — Hubert Dupigny, Hensley Dupigny, Nazeer Vickers, Sean Merchant, Reuben Sands, Martique McGriff, Jermain Myrie and Jabari Kennedy — were first charged in the summer and face new charges as part of the superseding indictment.
