Unless the shooter managed to kill the pilot and he slumped forward pushing the cyclic and Kobe was unable to pull him and the stick back in time a gun shot prolly wouldn't do it. . Certainly no bullet could separate the rotor or damage enough of the controls; unlikely but strange things happen sometimes.
Not saying it was a missile; that is just one of the few possibilities.
