Here are a couple of more books written by the two guys who flew the airship around the USA in 1897 during what became known as the Airship Scare of 1897. The NY papers made it out to be a scare and a mystery, probably to sell papers. But the local papers where the airship passed, or landed, are much more rational and informative.

One pilot was a Chemistry professor at West Point, and probably responsible for manufacturing the fuel.

The other guy was the physicist and probably responsible for the gyroscopic antigravity device used to propel the airship.

I chose books published at or after their trip but both men did publish other works before and after. Nikola Tesla was in the USA when this airship was flying around. Not sure what he thought of it.

NASA wants to send astronauts to Mars, and they could do it with nuclear-powered rocket engines.

Nuclear thermal propulsion (NTP) systems aren’t new, but they could significantly reduce travel times and carry greater payloads than today’s top chemical rockets — giving humans a great chance of exploring deep space.
