Exclusive — Alabama Poll: Jeff Sessions Takes Commanding 21-Point Lead over GOP Field

Jeff Sessions (R-AL), former U.S. attorney general and former senator, has taken a commanding 21-point lead over the rest of the GOP field a little over a month ahead of the Alabama primary, a poll obtained by Breitbart News exclusively shows.

Sessions, at 43 percent, towers over the next best candidate Rep. Bradley Byrne (R-AL)—who is at 22 percent. Tommy Tuberville, the former Auburn football coach, has dropped to third place at 21 percent—a slide that is significant in that it follows a trend where Tuberville has consistently struggled and faded since Sessions’ entrance into the field. “Jeff Sessions is winning because the people of Alabama want a fighter in the US Senate,” Curt Anderson, the top adviser to Sessions, told Breitbart News. “They want a pro-Trump conservative who will never capitulate to the Washington, DC, establishment, and they know that is Jeff Sessions. He’s a national leader on fighting illegal immigration and fighting against the left’s desire to destroy our religious freedom. The Democrats know that Jeff Sessions will defeat Doug Jones. “Jeff Sessions is winning because he is a pro-Trump Republican who has spent his life fighting for pro-Trump, pro-America policies like supporting our troops, bringing our jobs back from overseas, religious liberty, and fighting against illegal immigration, and the Bernie-and-The Squad-style socialism,” Timmy Teepell, a senior adviser to Sessions, also told Breitbart News. “Jeff Sessions is the only candidate in this race positioned to take on Schiff apologist Doug Jones.”

Sessions, who served as President Donald Trump’s Attorney General for the beginning of his presidency, had represented this seat in the U.S. Senate for two decades before Trump appointed him to lead the Justice Department. Sessions was known in the Senate for his leadership among Republicans on economic nationalist issues like immigration, trade, national security especially when it comes to China, and standing up for American workers against special interests. Sessions was also the first U.S. Senator to endorse President Trump in 2016, doing so early in the race before the Alabama primaries at a rally just outside Huntsville. Only a few House Republicans had endorsed Trump, an outsider in GOP politics, before Sessions’ game-changing endorsement helped the now president begin to wrap up the nomination and win over the GOP. Sessions later served as Trump’s attorney general, but his old seat in a special election fell to Democrat Sen. Doug Jones (D-AL) due in large part to problems with the appointed now former Sen. Luther Strange (R-AL) and more significantly issues with the 2017 special election GOP nominee former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore. Since then, several candidates including Byrne, Tuberville, and Moore again have all announced bids for the seat—and then Sessions joined the race late in the game at the filing deadline. President Trump last week tweeted a poll conducted right after Sessions joined the race that showed Sessions in the lead over Tuberville by 4 points—Sessions at 35 and Tuberville at 31—while Byrne was down at 12 percent.

So That's Why Schiff Won't Release the Transcript of the 18th Witness

While presenting the Democrats' case for impeachment on the Senate floor, lead impeachment manager Adam Schiff (D-CA) kept referencing 17 witnesses who testified during the House impeachment inquiry. But there were 18 of them. Schiff and the Democrats are refusing to release the testimony of Intelligence Community Inspector General Michael Atkinson, and according to Republicans who were present during Atkinson's closed-door testimony, the reason the transcript hasn't been released is because it proves both the whistleblower and House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff did not tell the truth about their contact with each other.

Fox News' Maria Bartiromo interviewed Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-TX) on "Sunday Morning Futures" about the 18th transcript the Democrats are refusing to release. Rep. Ratcliffe was there for Inspector General Michael Atkinson's testimony and says the transcript is damaging to Chairman Adam Schiff and the whistleblower.

"The House managers kept putting up charts talking about the 17 witnesses," Ratcliffe began. "But there were 18 … I was there. It's the one transcript out of 18 that hasn't been released. It's a 179-page transcript … It's the one transcript that talks about Adam Schiff and the whistleblower. Now, everyone knows by now that Adam Schiff was not truthful about his contacts with the whistleblower. What they don't know and what's in that transcript is that the whistleblower wasn't truthful about his contacts with Adam Schiff. This whole thing started, Maria, when the whistleblower filed a complaint with the inspector general under penalty of perjury that wasn't true and correct, made representations in writing and verbally that weren't true and correct. And when we found that out and tried to get into the details of that, Adam Schiff, who was in charge of this investigation, shut it down, and now he's trying to bury that transcript."

Bartiromo noted that it wasn't the first time Chairman Adam Schiff has withheld exculpatory evidence. Despite looking at the same evidence as Chairman Schiff, Rep. Ratcliffe and former Rep. Trey Gowdy both saw abuses in the FISA warrant process used against Trump campaign adviser Carter Page, something that has since been confirmed by Inspector General Michael Horowitz's investigation. At the time, Adam Schiff denied any abuses in the FISA process and accused Republicans and the president of lying. "That's the very same person who is now out there spinning this Ukraine hoax in his latest impeachment effort," Rep. Ratcliffe continued. The congressman said he expects the president to be acquitted "by the end of this week." The Democrats keep insisting on new witnesses. How about we hear from the old one first?

Putin despised the weak, anti-American Democrats of recent years. Now? He both respects and fears the America-First leadership platform upon which the Trump White House has been built upon. 'Iran-Linked Lobby Behind Obama Nuclear Deal Is Back in Action

A lobbying group with alleged ties to the Islamic Republic of Iran is exerting its influence in Congress amid heightened U.S.-Iranian tensions over recent deadly episodes, including the American drone killing of Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani. In recent weeks the Washington, D.C.-based National Iranian American Council, which played a pivotal backstage role in securing the Obama-era nuclear deal abandoned by President Trump, has worked in public and behind the scenes to shape America’s response to the conflict.

On Jan. 7, after Iran fired missiles at U.S. military bases in Iraq, the group issued a statement saying, “Donald Trump owns this 100%.” The next day, Jan. 8, it co-hosted a “No War With Iran Strategy Call” that featured presidential candidates Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders, along with Reps. Barbara Lee and Ro Khanna, both California Democrats. On Dec. 12, weeks before the crisis was touched off by an Iranian-led attack on the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, the lobbying group backed a letter sent to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin by 17 Democratic members of Congress, urging the Trump administration to lift economic sanctions on Iran.

In response to the group’s continued influence inside the Beltway, and at a time of alarm about foreign meddling in American politics, three Republican senators – Arkansas’ Tom Cotton, Indiana’s Mike Braun, and Texas’ Ted Cruz – last week sent a letter to Attorney General William Barr “urging the Department of Justice to investigate the National Iranian American Council (NIAC) and its sister organization, NIAC Action, for potential violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act.” According to the senators, the group “purports to improve understanding between American and Iranian people but in reality seems to spread propaganda and lobby on behalf of the Iranian government.”

The organization characterized that description as “slanderous,” adding in a written statement: “NIAC and NIAC Action are independent American organizations. We do not receive money from any government, are not agents of any government, and take great pride in our transparency.” But numerous observers say NIAC’s ties to the Islamic Republic of Iran are clear, citing evidence of close communication between the lobbying group’s leaders and Iranian officials.
