Spouse anon is an amateur astronomer and has set up telescopes late at night in public areas.
Local cops will come to investigate, but lay off when they see the telescopes and have even shown interest in looking through the telescopes themselves. They are probably bored on patrol and it helps them pass the time. Spouse anon never minded police asking questions. Felt safer that way. No permit is required for stargazing where we live.
