A sprawling 19,000 square foot Tudor residence in the guard-gated enclave of Ashley Ridge in Hidden Hills, CA has surprisingly met the wrecking ball. The property was previously owned by Miramax Films co-owner Ron Tutor who reportedly paid a little over $4-million for the estate back in 1993. Historical aerial imagery reveals that an extensive addition was completed on the home sometime in the mid-90s extending the original main house into what can only be described as a fairytale Tudor compound. In 2010 Ron Tutor had put the manicured 3.39-acre estate on the market for $18.9-million as he was preparing to move into his new home. With no solid offers, the property was then leased to american signer Britney Spears for $25,000 per month for about a year. The 19,000 square foot residence featured 10 bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, an extravagant ballroom, a large gourmet kitchen, poker room, arcade, and two staff apartments. The immaculate manicured grounds included a private pond with dock, resort-style swimming pool with grotto, fountains, & waterslide, sunken tennis court, large motor court, and lush, mature plants surrounding the estate. The Ashley Ridge estate eventually found a buyer in mid-2013 and was sold for $7.35-million, a substantial cut from the original $18.9-million ask price. Demolition begun on the residence in late 2013, and all that remains today is the sunken tennis court. The property is back on the market as a “flat pad” with “pastoral views” and “numerous mature trees. It’s currently listed at $9.9-million with Berkshire Hathaway. A sad end to what once was a very unique Tudor estate in one of California’s most prestigious private neighbourhoods. *Thank you to Kieran for the heads up on the demolition.
