thanks. the terminology confused me. this 'ace2 receptor' terminology is incorrect. it's an angiotensin 2 receptor or a2 receptor. ace is angiotensin convertine enzyme. there are drugs that inhibit that enzyme from converting angiotensin 1 to angiotensin 2 like all the -prils. the angiotensin 2 receptor has drugs that block it, preventing angiontensin 2 from accessing it. those drugs are the -sartans. if coronavirus enters only through the a2 receptor, then the -sartans may be what they are looking at for treatment/prevention. they are generally better tolerated drugs than the -prils but it depends on dose.
