In 1810, Prime Minister Spencer Perceval found King George III incapable of transacting business (Mental illness), and introduced The Regency Bill, which passed in early 1811. The Recency Act created the role of Prince Regent which was assigned to The Prince of Wales and allowed him to exercise the full powers of the King.
