Coronavirus latest: China death toll hits 259
Chinese health authorities on Saturday raised the death toll from the new virus to 259, with 11,791 confirmed cases, as of the previous day.
Cases have been confirmed in the U.K., Germany, Finland, France, Italy, Spain, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, the U.S., Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, Singapore, Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Australia, Canada, the Philippines, the UAE and Cambodia.

9:48 a.m. The total number of deaths from the outbreak had reached 259 by the end of Friday, an increase of 46, according to a state broadcaster CCTV, citing numbers from the country's National Health Commission.
9:30 a.m. The northern Chinese city of Tianjin has ordered schools and nonessential companies to remain closed until further notice to curb the spread of the coronavirus, according to a local government-run newspaper.
8:02 a.m. Hubei Province, at the center of the coronavirus epidemic, reported 45 new deaths from the outbreak and confirmed 1,347 new cases of infection on Friday, according to the local health commission.
7:30 a.m. Spain confirmed its first case of coronavirus late Friday, with the Health Ministry identifying a man diagnosed on a remote island in the Canaries.
5:40 a.m. U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar declares the coronavirus outbreak a public health emergency in the country and says Washington will deny the entry of foreign nationals who have traveled to China within the past 14 days. Immediate family members of U.S. citizens will be exempt.
5:35 a.m. Germany confirmed a seventh case of coronavirus, identifying the victim as a man who works at a company in Bavaria where five other workers had earlier tested positive.
