One puff to blow it all? Canadian Navy sacks two ship commanders after 2nd officer disables smoke alarm to light up

A Canadian Navy officer’s career may have just gone up in smoke after he disabled a fire alarm aboard a frigate in order to have a puff, with the sailor removed from his post just months before his ship’s next foreign deployment.

The sudden reshuffling on the HMCS Calgary took place as its crew prepares to set sail to the Asia-Pacific in April, seeing both its commander, Jonathan Kouwenberg, and Lieutenant Commander John Forbes dropped from the ship’s roster in the space of a week.

In Forbes’ case, the ship’s executive officer was sacked after he switched off a smoke detector in the Calgary’s wardroom, smoking tobacco and encouraging subordinates to follow his lead. He was found guilty on three counts of misconduct, reprimanded and fined $3,000.

27 Phoenix men arrested in undercover child-sex sting operation

The City of Phoenix Police Department announced Thursday that 27 Phoenix men have been arrested in a joint-agency investigation of child sex crimes.

Four separate Phoenix police departments partnered with Homeland Security and the Arizona Attorney General's Office in an undercover sting investigation called "Operation Silent Predator."

Undercover officers posted ads on websites and apps known to be used by sex predators to arrange sexual encounters with individuals whom suspects thought were children ages 14 or younger.

Billy Porter, a homosexual cross-dressing actor who is known to wear dresses on red carpets to posh Hollywood events, will be appearing on the PBS kids’ show ‘Sesame Street’ to warp the minds of the young viewers.

The show made the announcement in a Facebook post on Thursday, claiming that Porter would bring his “fierce vibes” to Sesame Street. This deeply offended some of the show’s fans on social media.

“That is pushing [too] much at little children, it makes no sense, kids have [too] much on their little plates as it is,” a commenter said. “Why add more?”
