Charles I was the last reigning monarch of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. He abdicated on 11-11-1918 (Armistice Day, end of WWI). His quote then was: "I did not abdicate, and never will. I see my manifesto of 11 November as the equivalent to a cheque which a street thug has forced me to issue at gunpoint. I do not feel bound by it any way whatsoever."

The son of Charles I is Otto von Hasburg. He grew up in Vienna where the family lived in exile from the throne. Otto became the Soverign of the Order of the Golden Fleece in 1922, resigning in 2000.

Otto is pictured here at his 90th Birthday party with his daughter, Archduchess Andrea von Habsburg of Austria and her brother. She was born on May 30, 1953 and raised in Vienna.

Now, I am finding the resemblance between Merkel and Andrea noteworthy. If the theory that Hitler was an illegitimate Hapsburg, then Merkel of course would be considered illegitimate; but probably revered for the accomplishments of her father.

Is it possible that Hitler started his campaign of dominance to restore or avenge the Hapsburg family and legitimize himself as a worthy heir to the throne? Something was driving his megalomania.
