98-99% survival rate after 2 weeks of a bad cold/flu…excited about what exactly? Hot tip: Don't be Chinese over 50 with comorbid conditions. Otherwise…meh.

Suspicious timing…Lunar New Year. Missing work isn't a problem if nobody's at work anyway. You can test out your quick reaction drills for a real bug you release later.

China has a small problem called Hong Kong…gatherings are becoming rather inconvenient for the power structure. How to control gatherings…get the protestors to self-avoid by seeding fear of 'contagion'. Problem effectively delayed for weeks/months while you quietly employ countermeasures on the ground for future upticks.

Lot's of other suspiciousness concerning this particular genetic sequence.

When you have tens of thousands of sick in a week or so and increasing exponentially why build a 1,000 bed hospital in a week?

It's a capability exercise on the world stage. Domestic comfort pron and foreign notice of 'Look what we can do'.

Logistics is a strategic capability…not formerly a Chinese strong suit…'Can you do big things fast?' Check. Now the next capability check is 'Can you do big things fast far away?' Island building engineers raise hands. They're showing off.

This is about demonstrating capability and control.

It's Communism…logic has no place. Surviving the upline party bosses tantrums over what you're doing to make him look good to his boss…that'll keep you rich and alive. The same reason you had a hundred track hoes doing ballet for the cameras all day when a couple of D9's would've had the whole place leveled by lunch.

It's for show. If your country gets hit with a fast moving epidemic, building hospitals probably isn't going to move the needle at that point.
