The eggs and bunnies are fertility symbols borrowed from paganism by the early church in the effort to convert pagans.

The word easter is derived from a pagan fertility goddess ฤ’ostre (same etymology as estrus, estrogen, etc.) and probably derived from Astarte, the Hellenized form of the Middle Eastern goddess Astoreth, a form of Ishtar.

Christ's life, death, and resurrection, and his Passover last-supper instructions to disciples, are central to faithful believers, but the pagan celebrations and their pagan symbols are not.

Certainly myths about eggs are no more than fanciful made-up tales that tried to harmonize pagan beliefs with early christian writings to lure converts.
