Spent a week in a psych ward once about 8 years ago, they were handing out pills like crazy and it was basically the only treatment offered. It was disgusting. Mind you this was the "light" ward where they didnt keep the Crazy Crazies. Mostly people dealing with depression, anxiety etc. This was in western Europe.
