In this one, our intelligence analyst puts his life on the line by scamming the scammers. It can be dangerous to con a con artist, particularly one with military training. You need to have ironclad skills at hiding your location and your real identity.

To succeed, our guy created multiple photos of a fake woman and recordings of her fake voice.

Once he hooked some scammers, he cracked their systems (which were basically unprotected) and scoured through all the machines on their network looking for useful info. This might have been illegal unless you are authorized to do this as part of an official police investigation. In any case, he learned a lot about the while organization of people running the scams.

In a war scenario, he would have quickly provided targeting info for drone strikes and these people would all be dead and their organization shattered.

The techniques of intel collection and analysis used in war are pretty much the same as those used in criminal investigations.

When I started the search, I only expected to identify a handful of enterprising individuals that ran these types of scams from an internet cafe or their basement. But I was wrong. I was taken aback by the sheer scale and sophistication of these operations and the amount of revenue they generate. It also became clear that these scams are not private operations that are run by some enterprising individuals but rather a national industry that involves banking, law enforcement, the media, some UN bodies (mostly local), politicians, and local and international corporations across multiple jurisdictions.

If you were setting up a secret military level 4 biolab in Wuhan, would you put it in the same building as the civilian one? Not me. I would find a suitable factory near a park, install tunneling equipment, dig down 100 feet or so, and tunnel under the park. Then remove the dirt and tunneling equipment, use the factory as a secret indoor parking lot for entry to the lab.
