Foux dogs, or Foo Dogs. They are sometimes called lions as well.

They were the mythical creatures of the underworld and were the protectors.

The Foux Dogs usually stand outside of a house or an entranceway to ward away / protect from, evil spirits.

Interesting note:

The ball they stand on is the 3d representation of the flower of life, thus meaning that they protect all sacred knowledge.
