Private equity firms accounted for 80% of all data-center acquisitions in 2019. Is that a good thing?

Merger and acquisition activity surrounding data-center facilities is starting to resemble the Oklahoma Land Rush, and private-equity firms are taking most of the action.

New research from Synergy Research Group saw more than 100 deals in 2019, a 50% growth over 2018, and private-equity companies accounted for 80% of them.

M&A activity broke the 100 transaction mark for the first time in 2019, and that comes despite a 45% decline in public company activity, such as the massive Digital Reality Trust purchase of Interxion. At the same time, the size of the deals dropped in 2019, with fewer worth $1 billion or more vs. 2018, and the average deal value fell 24% vs. 2018.

There’s evil. Then there’s pure evil. Few are decorated with praise of the latter but today there’s one guy that fully deserves it. We’re talking about Simon Weckert, an artist whose latest trick may have just led to a whole lot of traffic jams but only virtually – Google Maps to be precise.

In an experiment on Google Maps, he took 99 smartphones running the Google Maps app and then asked someone to roam them on the streets of Berlin while posting a video of the entire episode later on YouTube.

NRA fires back at Michael Bloomberg's misleading gun control ad with powerful ad of its own

The National Rifle Association on Sunday issued a fierce response to Michael Bloomberg's misleading gun control ad that aired during the Super Bowl.

The misleading ad claimed that 2,900 children die from gun violence every year. However, as Washington Free Beacon reporter Stephen Gutowski noted, almost half of those "children" are actually adults ages 18 and 19. In fact, the ad merely cites misleading data from Bloomberg's gun control group, Everytown for Gun Safety.

In response, the NRA issued an ad of its own blasting Bloomberg's gun control push. The ad includes direct responses from numerous Second Amendment supporters.
