true those are extreme examples (redwoods) but for example if you were to talk to the old folks that settled Oregon (before they died) they would tell stories about being able to ride a horse under the trees, so even the normal sized pines were pretty big. also the entire midwest was a hardwood forest before they cut it down to buid Chicago … twice.
