"Holding it in" cuts off oxygen to your brain, numb nuts. Not a wise move. However, if all you're looking for is "the high", then that loss of oxygen provides just that. You don't need any "weed" for that, tho. People huff paint and various aerosols looking for that same "high". So, don't come here regurgitating uneducated bull shit.
Many responsible smokers do not smoke for "the high". The smoke for a variett of medical reasons. Migraines/headaches, stomach cramps/nausea, even for chasing off a cold. However, "the high" does have certain medical benefits, as well. Anyone who has to take pych meds on a daily basis may or may not find that cannabis will offer a much safer alternative for "anger management", "depression", etc. It's important to know your strain, because while some provide tremendous benefits, others may have little or no improvement, and certain ones will actually make the symptoms worse.
This is why these things need further studies. Don't just pass this off as "pot culture". There's plenty of science to back. The master regulatory system is the endocannabaniod system. All animals have receptors, too. It's obviously a part of nature for a reason. In regards to strain selection, identifying terpenes and flavanoids may provide a better map for matching symptoms to strains. And one of the reasons why these organic compounds may be more effective when using cannabis over other plants could very well be in relation to those cannabanoid receptors.
There are multiple methods one can "use" cannabis without needing to smoking. Tinctures, for example, were frequently used prior to prohibition. Many wealthy people had a hand in banning this natural remedy, to gain more profits for their own personal businesses, including elected officials and legislators, and the amount of propaganda they have put out to slander this natural substance is beyond absurd. It should be fucking criminal
