Climate Alarmist Greta Thunberg Nominated For Nobel Peace Prize (again)

Just like Barack Obama, she hasn’t actually done anything yet. But hey, let’s give her the Nobel Peace Prize anyway.

Swedish teenage climate alarmist Greta Thunberg has been nominated for the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize. Two members of Sweden’s Left Party said Monday that Thunberg “has worked hard to make politicians open their eyes to the climate crisis” and “action for reducing our emissions and complying with the Paris Agreement is therefore also an act of making peace.”

The Paris climate deal was, of course, a massive hoax. China and India, two of the world’s biggest polluters, didn’t actually have to do anything, and much of the bill was footed by (you guessed it) the United States. President Trump pulled us out of the faulty accord shortly after taking office. And while the U.S. is far ahead of the parameters set forth in the pact, many other nations are well behind, including China.

“Thunberg, 17, has encouraged students to skip school to join protests demanding faster action on climate change, a movement that has spread beyond Sweden to other European nations and around the world,” NBS News writes. “She founded the Fridays for Future movement that has inspired similar actions by other young people.” Yes, wouldn’t it be great if all our children skipped school?

Thunberg was also named “Person of the Year” by Time magazine.

Obama won a Nobel Peace Prize just eight months into office, but months later he visited the United Nations and delivered a call to war. “Ladies and gentlemen, we come together at a crossroads between war and peace, between disorder and integration, between fear and hope.”

The Nobel committee’s ex-secretary Geir Lundestad later said gikving Obama the Peace Prize was a mistake.

“Even many of Obama’s supporters believed that the prize was a mistake,” he said. “In that sense the committee didn’t achieve what it had hoped for.”

Trump mocked Obama in 2013 for the award. “Our NOBEL PRIZE FOR PEACE president said ‘I’m really good at killing people’ according to just out book Double Down. Can Oslo retract prize?” he wrote on Twitter.

Harvard Professor’s Arrest For Lying About China Ties Is Part Of Ongoing Crackdown On Chinese Government Influence At American Campuses

As tensions between the U.S. and China grow due to the Coronavirus outbreak that has infected people in 25 countries including the U.S., Chinese Communist Party (CCP) influence on American college campuses has also continued to loom, highlighting a trend at America’s most elite institutions.

Most recently, Charles Lieber, the chair of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Harvard, was charged with aiding the Chinese government and hiding his ties about accepting millions in funding. His involvement with the Chinese government included recruiting skilled individuals to the Thousand Talent Program, which in some cases has resulted in violations of U.S. law, such as espionage, theft of trade secrets, and grant fraud.

The FBI also issued a federal arrest warrant for Yanqing Ye, a lieutenant in the People’s Liberation Army, China’s armed forces, and a member of the CCP. Ye studied at Boston University, hiding her involvement with the PLA and CCP while accessing U.S. military websites and sending U.S. documents and information to China. Zaosong Zheng, a Chinese national indicted on charges of stealing biological research and attempting to smuggle them to China, admitted he would use the stolen materials to conduct research and publish the results under his own name. Zheng was sponsored by Harvard while working at Beth Israel Deaconness Medical Center.

These arrests and indictments are occurring on campuses across the country. In 2019, a University of Kansas researcher was charged with collecting federal grant money while secretly working for a Chinese university and a professor at a university in Texas was accused in a trade secret case.

A 2019 Senate investigative report underscored the government’s growing concern about the theft of American intellectual property as well as the spread of Chinese propaganda on college campuses through the Confucius Institute. While the Confucius Institute’s stated purpose is to provide Mandarin Chinese language training, it has received heavy criticism for omitting parts of Chinese history that resulted in wide scale humanitarian strife and carnage, such as the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution. The Institute has also been criticized for its censorship. In 2018, a journalist speaking at Savannah State University’s Confucius Institute had the mention of “Taiwan” in her biography deleted, which she later wrote was due to what the Institute’s co-director perceived as the challenging of Chinese sovereignty. Experts worry this is a channel for the Chinese government to exert its “soft power” propaganda campaigns and encourage censorship.

“Communist China is infiltrating American universities to meddle with our curricula, silence criticism of their regime, and steal intellectual property including sensitive dual-use research,” Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas said in 2018.

Google Tumbles After Revenue, Profit Miss; Breaks Out YouTube, Cloud For First Time

After the stellar earnings reports from Apple, Microsoft and Amazon (lets ignore Facebook for now), investors were expecting nothing but great news from the world's biggest search engine, Google, aka Alphabet, despite reports earlier today that DOJ officials are meeting with state attorneys general reps tomrrow afternoon to discuss their antitrust investigations of Google.

Alas, it was not meant to be, and moments ago Alphabet reported Q4 earnings that while beating on the bottom line, missed on revenues, operating margin and operating profit, to wit:

Q4 EPS of $15.35 beat Est. $12.50

Q4 total Revenue $46.08BN missed Exp. $46.94BN

Q4 Revenue Ex-TAC $37.57B missed Est. $38.40B

Q4 Oper Margin 20% missed Est. 24.7%

Q4 Oper Income $9.27B missed Est. $9.79B

Ad revenue rose to a record $37.9BN, which while solid missed some some whisper estimates, suggesting that Facebook may be taking more ad market share from Google than expected.
