Her previous marriage ended in divorce.>She is a daughter of the late Ruth V. Batts and the late Dr. James A. Batts Jr., who lived in Philadelphia. Her father was an obstetrician and gynecologist and the director of maternal and infant-care services for the Philadelphia Department of Public Health. He was also a professor at the Medical College of Pennsylvania.

>Dr. Zornberg, 56, is a lead medical officer epidemiologist for the Food and Drug Administration and works in Silver Spring, Md. She graduated from Goucher College and received a medical degree from Columbia. She has a master’s and a doctorate in epidemiology from Harvard.
