the guy who designed the enron logo is the same guy who designed the IBM logo, for what it's worth…
as I seem to recall, Enron introduced the logo you pictured as its 'new' logo around 1996-97. The old one was different.
Also, some Enron trivia: the logo designer originally used yellow instead of green for one of the prongs of the "E". Enron employees soon found that when they sent a letter by fax, the yellow prong didn't show up. at that point, they went with red/green/blue for the prongs.
the idea was that the logo would resemble the three prongs of an electrical plug.
