If it was fairly sudden, have them test for a UTI immediately. Sometimes it’s hidden but can cause lethargy in the elderly. I feel for you anon… my prayers.

I’d try to maybe get him off the antiD if you could… and regulate his sleep/wake cycle by encouraging light exercise, sunlight and things that stimulate his brain. Routine is key as well as keeping things simple and concrete.
But yes those antiD can really dull the personality.. of course talk to his doctors first but it seems so many are quick with the rx.
Oh! I forgot music. This is the key! Find songs he enjoyed in his teens and 20s and see how he reacts to them. Sometimes this can tap into parts of the brain and create periods of great awareness. Look up “music and memory project” to see what I mean! :)
