Pharmacistfag here.
I worked retail pharmacy when epipen $$$ skyrocketed. For about 30 seconds, there was a competitive generic version on the market. It disappeared when EpiPen sued, and immediately after they raised their price.
The current market generic is produced and owned by the SAME makers of Brand Name EpiPen, giving them total market domination. (this happens more often than you realize).
Note- epinephrine is one of the cheapest drugs out there. In the hospital, they use vials or ampules, and they cost less than a $ each for the same dose in an epipen.
Shenanigans like this happen ALL THE TIME. The public just isn't aware.
