What is MOST interesting to me is why the founders put religion in the first amendment with free speech.

Turns out back then, all schools were religious schools and parents were free to exercise freedom of curriculum in writing, history, digs, math, science etc. In other words….

Freedom of Religion is ACTUALLY the right of the PEOPLE to control the school curriculum, not the government.

There were no public schools.

Period.

All were raised in religious schools supported by Sunday church donations.

Amish still do the one room school house like this today.

Religious freedom = Curriculum freedom = Homeschooling freedom = Freedom of Information = Right to create local schools in the neighborhood with groups of neighbors and decide what the children will learn, the right to choose the text books.

Individual right.

Collective right of association.

Important right.
