Gold and Silver are money. They are not just commodities. Their prices have been controlled and suppressed for a long time. The volume of fake paper promises is massive.
Any fixed prices will have to be significantly higher than the current "paper" price.
The only problem for the USA is their sovereign gold is long gone and will need to be repatriated. If Trump does that then this system will work.
