I know a lot of Catholics who do not trust the church anymore. They see the greed, the child molestation coverups, they don't like it, but they don't see how to fix it. My mom is a Eucharistic minister, she sees it. She thinks the pope is evil.
The greed really upsets her. She expects them to sell the church she attends. They've been selling properties and trying to consolidate worship services to one place and one time whereas there used to multiple services to attend. They no longer have a local priest, they're trying to make one priest cover a wider area and more services. All for money.
