very true and accurate. in fact, the Khmer Rouge regime was a cabal social scientific experiment to see just how far you could push authoritarianism and what the results would be for the elite.
turns out, Pol Pot-style socialism produced little 'surplus value' for the elite enjoy, so they have taken a different tack. but some aspects of the Khmer Rouge system have been retained.
