A paper to look at regarding HIV insertions in coronavirus is: "Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(ACE2) proteins of different bat species confer variable susceptibility to SARS-CoV entry". The authors are Yuxuan Hou, Cheng Peng, Meng Yu, Yan Li,Zhenggang Han, Dang Li, Lin-Fa Wang and Zhengli Shi.
The paper was published in 2010 and the researchers even used an "HIV-based pseudotype" virus in their work, in my mind possibly hinting at where HIV insertions in the new coronavirus may have originated. Five of the co-authors were in Wuhan.
I think Zhengli Shi may be the same scientist currently apparently defending herself against the accusation of developing/releasing the virus. That needs some digging I think.
