Our history is not what we were told.
The key that unlocks so much of this is in the verse in Matthew that says As things were in the days of Noah so will they be at the time of the coming of the Son of Man.
What happened to clean the corruption off of the world at the time of Noah? A BIG Storm.
Things happen in patterns. True history shows patterns. So:
Noah is commanded to build and ark and tells people that the storm is coming and to repent = “A Storm is Coming”
When the ark was ready Noah and his household were commanded to go in the ark and wait it out = “The Storm is Upon Us” time to stand together in the full armor of God and Stand. Endure. Wait out the storm.
The brunt of the storm lasted 40 days… but then took about a year for the world to settle down again. Things were turned upside down all over the world.
The key to grasping this is to fully understand what happened after the flood, which is not clearly illustrated in the bible. I hope you have time to look at the book in this link:

It was written in 1602 and describes the history of Noah (Noe and his sons, grandsons, etc) who include Hercules, Neptune, and Osiris. It puts all of the puzzle pieces together based on histories from Pliney, Herodotus and others. A very worthwhile read.
