Richard Marriot has run Host Hotels & Resorts since 1993, the year he and older brother Bill spun the company off from family's Marriott International amid bondholder protests.
Host operates 118 hotels and properties, and is the largest lodging REIT in the world.
His dad opened his first hotel, the Twin Bridges Marriott Motor Hotel, in 1957.

Xi presses world leaders on travel curbs
China raised the death toll on the mainland by 97 to 1,113 as of the end of Tuesday, with Hubei Province, the epicenter of the outbreak, reporting 94 deaths.
Cases have been confirmed in Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, Australia, Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Cambodia, Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates, the U.S., Canada, Germany, France, the U.K., Italy, Russia, Finland, Spain, Sweden and Belgium.
