Alleged stalker of Marie Yovanovitch says he is sharing 'everything' with lawmakers
A Trump donor with ties to President Trump's attorney Rudy Giuliani is providing information to the House Foreign Affairs Committee, which is investigating the targeting and ouster of U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch. Robert F. Hyde, 40, a Republican lobbyist and congressional candidate accused of stalking the U.S. ambassador, told the Washington Examiner on Wednesday that he had shared "everything" Monday with the committee relating to Giuliani associate Lev Parnas, but the panel still wants "to subpoena my electronic devices."
Documents released by Congress last month showed Hyde in conversation with Parnas discussing a plot to surveil and oust Yovanovitch. Hyde later denied tracking the ambassador in Kyiv and described the conversation as a joke. He rejects claims that he had close ties to Parnas, whom he called a "con man" and "piece a shit." Parnas was blocked by Capitol Police from attending the president's impeachment trial in the Senate last month after receiving tickets to view the proceeding from Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. Hyde, who is running for Congress in Connecticut's 5th District, shared photographs of himself standing with his dog on the U.S. Capitol grounds this week. Hyde said the committee wanted to "talk about Parnas and how I know him," according to a report Wednesday first revealing his cooperation with lawmakers.
The messages between Hyde and Parnas, who is currently under indictment for funneling foreign money to U.S. electoral candidates, were released by the House Intelligence Committee Democrats last month. Democrats in Congress began investigating Giuliani's ties to Ukraine at the suggestion of Trump national security adviser John Bolton. His testimony has been sought ever since his former aide, Fiona Hill, told House impeachment investigators of Bolton's misgivings over the White House campaign to pressure Ukraine to open a formal investigation into former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter. Bolton, Hill testified last year, said he wanted no part of the "drug deal" that fellow Trump administration officials were "cooking up." The White House is still withholding approval for $30 million in arms and ammunition purchased by Ukraine.
Hyde, who was pictured bowling at the White House last year, is pictured on Instagram with Trump associates and Republican insiders such as Vice President Mike Pence, former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, Roger Stone, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, and Sen. Rand Paul.
