Did Bloomberg's GBF take over for CGI?
"Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has plans to fill the philanthropic space left by the the Clinton Global Initiative by hosting a gathering of the world’s most powerful people in New York.
The Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Global Business Forum (GBF) will be held in New York during the UN General Assembly in September. The Forum will bring together a large collection of world and corporate leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron and Apple CEO Tim Cook “to discuss opportunities for advancing trade and economic growth, and the related societal challenges – from climate change to workplace automation to terrorism.”
The Forum was inspired by the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), a global philanthropic network that also hosted a forum in New York during the UN General Assembly. The GBF has seized upon the template established by the CGI’s annual meeting by bringing the most politically powerful people together with heads of industry to address problematic social, political and economic trends."
