Pennsylvania Human trafficking penalty increase signed into law
The first of a package of state-specific human trafficking prevention bills has been signed into law as of February 5, 2020. Known as Senate Bill 60, the new law is an amendment to Titles 18 (crimes/offenses) and 42 (judicial procedures) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes.

The new amendment will go into effect on April 5, 2020. With these changes, penalties will be increased for trafficking. Minimum fines are now $1,000 - previously $500, and the maximum has been increased to $50,000. Jail time for these offenses can now range from 20 to 40 years.
Furthermore, both human trafficking and knowingly patronizing a victim of sexual servitude have been reclassified as first degree felonies - they were previously classified as second degree felonies.
