But.
Mag field is caused by earths core rotation, a magma type flow under the equator that outruns the earths rotation in the same direction by one complete revolution every 400 years.
(The moon's pulling on a "zero gravity" area within the earth anytime moon is overhead.)
So the mag field can only be OVERCOME by introducing a more powerful field, but not reversed (unless the earth or the moon changes rotation)
