Communist Bernie Sanders opened up a ten point lead in the latest Morning Consult poll after his victory in New Hampshire this week.

Following his narrow victory in New Hampshire’s Democratic presidential primary — his second successive strong showing in the party’s first nominating contests — Sen. Bernie Sanders opened up a double-digit lead over former Vice President Joe Biden and entrenched himself as the best-positioned candidate heading into next week’s Nevada caucuses.

According to a Morning Consult poll conducted Wednesday, the Vermont independent is the first choice for 29 percent of Democratic primary voters, up 4 percentage points since polling conducted Feb. 4-9. Biden’s support fell 3 points during that time to 19 percent, leaving him 1 point ahead of former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Airlines’ losses set to skyrocket due to Covid-19 travel ban – UN aviation agency

Extended flight cancellations to China amid the coronavirus outbreak could cut global carriers’ revenues up to $5 billion in the first quarter, according to the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) estimates.

At least 70 airlines have canceled all international flights in and out of China and 50 others have reduced their operations in the country as the epidemic continues to spread, the agency said in a recent report. Thus, instead of a planned increase in passenger capacity, the companies saw a huge drop in passenger flows, losing from 16.4 to 19.6 million passengers compared to their earlier projections.

“This equates to a potential reduction of USD $4 to 5 billion in gross operating revenues for airlines worldwide,” the Montreal-based agency said. It added that Covid-19 may hit the industry even worse than the Severe Acute Respiratory System (SARS), which cost carriers $7 billion in 2002-2003, due to the greater extent of flight cancellations.

Turkey's 'Irresponsible Statements' About Shelling of Syrian Army Escalates Tensions - Russian MoD

Earlier, the Turkish military announced that it had 'neutralized' 63 more Syrian troops in Idlib province, with the two countries getting into a shooting war this week after the shelling of a Turkish observation post on Monday.

The Russian military has refuted the Turkish military's claims about the deaths of dozens of Syrian troops in Idlib, saying that Turkey's "irresponsible statements" can only lead to an escalation of the situation and to hastily-made decisions.

"The [Russian] Center for the reconcilliation of the warring parties draws attention to the responsibility of officials from the Turkish ministry of defence for providing false information to the country's leadership in the Idlib de-escalation zone," the MoD-affiliated Center said in a statement Friday.

"Such irresponsible statements only contribute to the escalation of the situation and to the taking of hasty decisions which do not meet the mutual interests of Russia and Turkey," the Centre warned.

Earlier in the day, the Turkish military reported on the 'neutralization' of 63 Syrian troops. Before that, Ankara reported on the elimination of 101 Syrian personnel in attacks on 115 Syrian Army targets in response to Monday's attack on a Turkish observation post in Idlib which killed several Turkish troops.

Navy punishes sailors who wore 'Make Aircrew Great Again' patches during Trump speech

The Navy has punished a group of sailors over the wearing of patches that said "Make Aircrew Great Again" during a 2019 speech by President Trump on the USS Wasp.

Gina Harkins of Military.com obtained a copy of the investigation into the sailors' conduct, which found that although the sailors were not trying to make a political statement, the wear of the patches — which bore Trump's likeness — went against military rules against partisan political activity.
