Investigations 101: You don't need to interview those who have already done enough to convict themselves.
You just figure out the lies they're going to tell and get evidence to refute them. Let them tell their lies on the witness stand and blow 'em out of the water.

Funny story for ya. We used to go back-n-forth about Navy/Marines after I joined the Nav. He always had a good comeback, but one that used to give him a hard time was when I'd ask him, "And your retirement check says what? Dept of the What?"
And then the branches all up and consolidated paymasters into DFAS. Asked that, and he said, "I don't know about your LES, but my check says Dept of DEFENSE, thank you very much."
