There are a significant number of people in the world, under the 5'9" mark, that really do let that shit go to their heads. I'm revealing too much, but I'll just say that getting picked on led to much study/practice at athletics, weight lifting, and some gymnastics. I was able to grab the rim on regulation by 16, and by 18, dunked off alley-oops (could never go up WITH the ball, but could time a good oop). I never backed down from a fight. Lost a few, won many. Never gave up.

OTOH, some of us shorties took to learning how to cheat the system; perhaps inspired by a desire to "get back" at their bullies, in the long run ($, fame, etc.). Lots of short folks don't get a chance in sports, despite being OK at them, so they take to other interests. We've all seen that "Actors and their heights" chart, and its many iterations.

Make sense?
