>targets the ace2 receptor just like this 2019-nCoV strain of the coronavirus does - indicates an artificial and unnatural origins of the Wuhan Strain's spike-protein genes when they are compared to the genomes of wild relatives.

SARS has the same (almost) spike protein. SARS is natural. And it circulates in the same bat population that this new virus ostensibly came form. So a natural recombinant event is very possible.

> 2019-nCoV targets the ace2 receptor … which is found in East Asians at roughly five-times the rate of other global populations,

They notice an anomaly in one of their samples, and asian male, relating to higher than normal gene expression for that receptor. And you'll notice this this part has since been removed from the paper. We don't know for a fact that asians are more susceptible to this virus.
