you have a point

but you are not stating it correctly

cannabis has a range of active "cannabinoids" along with the infamous delta 9 THC (tetra hydro cannabinol) are many cannabinols, cannabidiols and other molecules that help balance out the effects of using that particular strain of weed. that's why some will wake you up, some will relax you and put you to sleep, make you laugh or give you the munchies, different weed strains have different effects

when the breeders select for one specific molecule (THC usually) they lose some of the others that help balance out the effect

so, the THC isn't "more potent"

the weed just has more of one specific component or another and less of the overall balance the older more heirloom weeds have

I understand

I've seen it

I look at it this way

there is a difference between chewing coca leaves and smoking crack but they are both cocaine

one rarely causes psychosis even after prolonged use, the other often does after just short periods of use

the modern weed is more potent and has a higher concentration of the psychoactive delta 9 THC

so it's natural that it would have stronger and more pronounced effect which includes the bad effects

the stuff isn't harmless

but it isn't the killer weed Mr Anslinger warned of

everybody knows drinking isn't good for kids

same for smoking tobacco

so why should weed be different?

weed is bad for kids

not gonna kill 'em but it will permanently alter their brain structure

but for us old fux…

check out US patent 6630507 from 1999 and especially who owns that patent
