Former Colorado Springs mayoral candidate accused of trying to steal newborn baby in Washington state

A former Colorado Springs mayoral candidate was arrested in Washington state Friday after authorities said she and her teenage daughter allegedly drugged a woman with the intent of stealing her baby.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department said Juliette Parker, 38, and her 16-year-old daughter were arrested Friday at their home in Spanaway, Wash., on suspicion of attempted kidnapping and assault.

Parker, running as an advocate for the homeless and affordable housing, came in a distant second in April 2019 with 10,718 votes in a four-way race for Colorado Springs mayor, losing by more than 56,000 votes to incumbent John Suthers.

The unsuspecting mom from Spanaway, outside Tacoma, hired suspect Juliette Parker, 38 from a Facebook ad in which she offered free newborn photography in order to build her portfolio, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

In three photo sessions with the mother and newborn, Parker behaved strangely, taking selfies with the tot and making sure to wipe her own fingerprints from objects around the houses, authorities said.

During her last visit, on Feb. 5 Parker — who made a failed bid for mayor of Colorado Springs last year — brought her 16-year-old daughter, and offered the mom a cupcake, police said.

The victim ate it, and and suddenly felt drowsy and numb, and began to vomit, said authorities.
