>communism is the political form of Judaism
This reminds me of how Jordan Peterson once described a key transition between the Old and New Testaments of the Bible
Note that he doesn’t use the word “communism” but describes the take home theme of the Old Testament (Judaism) as “collectivist” in nature. That what comes out of the recurrent rise and fall of Israel is the notion that “if we can just get the LAWS governing society right, we can have our utopia.” The collectivist goal then is the “perfect state.” But then there is a profound transition that comes with the New Testament. We have the incarnation of “the logos” (logical thinking) with the birth of Christ and his teachings. The new conceptualization is “No! “the perfect State” is Not salivation, the Truthful individual IS salvation.”
This argument strongly resonated with me when I first heard it. While Peterson credits Northrop Fry as the scholar who he read it from, I have never being able to locate any of Frys writings which spell this out.
I also think word “Statism” might better reflect this collectivist desire for the perfect State rather than “communism” per say, because I think you could also make the argument that “Statism” arises again when the Roman State adopts Christianity and weaponizes it as the new state religion we call Catholicism. Thus, Christianity is not a religion that only later becomes corrupted, the corruption came with its “instuitionalization” as a state religion followed by the criminalization of “sinful” behavior by the perpetual legislation of new criminal laws. From here we have the birth of corporations and the institutionalization of nation state governments where the individual and God become less important than the secular State.
