Easier to deal with after the fact by using Landlord/Tenant Laws(which will favor the landlord), rather than face potentially expensive lawsuits from litigious parents(and lawyers looking for a class action lawsuit for students that got the CV while in student housing). The bean-counter, school lawyers may have made the right decision to protect the school if one thinks on it.
