Let’s look at things logically on panic buying.
This Coronavirus I believe is under control, if Trump and Boris say so.
However there is no reason why a month or two supply of calories and essentials for you and your family is silly either.
Fear causes panic buying.
-
It boosts the economy.
-
It causes shortages and price increases, so even if Coronavirus isn’t a problem we should worry about, it’s better to get ahead of the fear by getting supplies while they’re cheaper and in stock.
-
If countries do put there citizens on quarantine, then shops will be closed, you’ll need something survive while at home.
-
If no quarantine happens, and supply chains carry on as normal, then you can use up that food and essentials for the next 2 months.
In other words by buying a 1 or 2 months supply you’re prepared in a bad case scenario. And have 1 or 2 months supply of not having to shop in the best case scenario.
Really I don’t think the Coronavirus itself is the thing we should be worried about. But the fear people have will cause price increases and shortages maybe.
Basically you don’t lose by preparing imo.
And all these people who say these people are stupid, if the bad case scenario pans out, are the same who are going to resort to stealing and begging.
Regardless, imo I wouldn’t go too overboard, 1 or 2 months would be enough. But you’re not going to break your bank either by preparing for 1 or 2 months.
